Member Details
The committee shall be composed of six persons residing within the City of Kalispell Growth Policy Area. The Mayor, with approval of the Council, shall appoint members to the committee for a length of two years. The Director (of the Parks and Recreation Department) shall serve as an ex officio non-voting member of the Committee. Application (PDF).
Overview
The committee was created by Ordinance 1086 and 1610 to study the problems and determine the needs of the City of Kalispell in connection with its tree planting, protection, maintenance, and removal. In 2019, the committee and the forestry Ordinance were updated with Ordinance 1826.
The committee also assists the properly constituted officials of the City of Kalispell, as well as the Council and Citizens of the City in the dissemination of news and information regarding the selection, planting and maintenance of trees within the corporate limits, whether the same be on private or public property, and to make such recommendations from time to time to the City Council, as to desirable legislation concerning the tree program and activities for the City.
